Preservation Exposition: It's All About Place
We suggest stopping by the historic Elmendorph Inn in Red Hook for the second annual House & Barn Preservation Expo - a free "info fair" on ways to preserve, restore and re-use your old house, barns or outbuildings. There will be hands-on demonstrations, presentations by people who have done it before, and useful takeaways. Drop by any time with your questions and photos for "show and tell" with the experts - artisans, architects, planners, preservationists, horticulturalists and landscape designers. No reservations required. There'll be live music and tasty food, too. Special presentations this year include an open-forge blacksmithing demonstration and:
- 12:00 and 3:00 pm - Restoring a Landmark: Peeling Away 250 Years of Change. Elliott Bristol and Donna Brown describe their (often surprising) experiences renovating their 18th century Red Hook home.
- 2:00 pm - State and Federal Preservation Programs and Incentives - Olivia Brazee of the NYS Historic Preservation Office offers a quick look at what's available for owners of historic houses, barns and commercial properties.
The Preservation Expo is made possible through the support of the Dyson Foundation.
